A major port terminal operator experienced a fault on a 75kW ABB ACS800 Variable Frequency Drive used in its cargo handling operations. The drive powered up but immediately displayed an error message, which could not be cleared through normal reset procedures. The fault prevented the equipment from normal operation and required detailed technical intervention.

Team Teknifix carried out comprehensive diagnostics, including cold testing and inspection of the drive’s power section. The investigation identified defective components as the root cause of the alarm condition.

The faulty components were replaced with OEM-certified spares, after which the drive was reassembled and subjected to functional testing to verify stable operation and compliance with OEM performance standards.

The project included:

• Continuity testing to ensure no short circuit between positive and negative terminals
• Comprehensive physical inspection of internal components and electrical connections
• Diagnosis of the  displayed error message
• Replacement of defective components with OEM-certified spares
• Functional testing and operational verification of the drive

The work was completed within four working days, successfully restoring the drive to reliable operating condition and minimizing downtime in the client’s cargo handling operations.
